Gadens in Melbourne has acted on the $118.5m sale of Bombora Technologies, Australia’s only domain name company.

Bombora Technologies, the registry providing all Australian domain names and the parent company of ARI Registry Services and AusRegistry, has been acquired by Neustar, an American technology company.

“They are the key and only player in the industry so it’s quite an important company,” said Richard Partridge who led the Gadens advisory team.

The sale makes Bombora Technologies among Australia’s most successful technology start-ups and marks Neustar’s biggest push into the Asia Pacific.

“The entrepreneurial spirit of our client brought a refreshingly different dimension to the transaction.  We are so pleased to have been able to assist our clients in achieving an outcome justly deserved as a result of all their hard work and success,” said Partridge.

Partridge predicts a strong in M&A market over the second half of this year, particularly as international investors continue to look to Australia.

“We’ve certainly seen an uplift in M&A work and there are a solid number of deals in the pipeline, a lot of its driven by overseas interest and investment but we’re very optimistic about the future.”
