Facebook announces new global general counsel
Former Davis Polk partner Jennifer Newstead is joining Facebook as global general counsel.
Newstead currently serves as the Legal Adviser to the United States Department of State, overseeing work on all domestic and international legal issues affecting the conduct of US foreign policy.
She previously held several roles in US government departments and courts.
“I’m excited to be joining Facebook at an important time and working with such a fantastic team,” Newstead said. “Facebook’s products play an important role in societies around the world. I am looking forward to working with the team and outside experts and regulators on a range of legal issues as we seek to uphold our responsibilities and shared values.”
She succeeds Colin Stretch who announced his intention to step down in July last year.
