Dentons takes new Melbourne partner from G+T

Dentons has taken a new partner from Gilbert + Tobin (G+T).

Andrew Chan has joined the Dentons partnership. He is based in Melbourne and is now a part of the global firm’s corporate team.

Chan has both Australian and overseas experience he gained from working in Asia and Europe. He was previously an analyst with PwC in Melbourne before moving to Freehills in Melbourne as a solicitor. He then relocated to London and joined top US firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, before returning to Melbourne to join G+T.

A specialised in corporate law, Chan brings with him more than 10 years’ experience. He has a particular focus on cross-border M&A, including takeovers, schemes of arrangement, private equity matters, corporate governance, restructures, and fundraising on equity capital markets.

He also advises on inbound investment into Australia, as well as commercial contractual arrangements and compliance with both the Corporations Act and the ASX’s listing rules.

Dentons is focussed on building a strong corporate practice in Australia and Chan’s the extensive cross-border experience complements the firm’s growing corporate offering, said Ian Dardis, the firm’s CEO in Australia.

“Dentons global reach, its innovative product offerings for clients and talented lawyers were all factors in my decision to join the firm in Melbourne,” Chan said.
