Dentons has launched its Intelligence & Strategic Services (ISS) practice, bringing together a multi-disciplinary team of lawyers from across the world.

Chaired by Karl V. Hopkins, partner and chief global security officer, the practice will provide executive advisory services that combine market intelligence, analytics and organizational resiliency counselling.

“We've always provided these types of services, and through formalizing the creation of this group, we achieve a new level of client support," said Hopkins. "Formalizing our global international capabilities has led to more efficient mobilization when our clients need us most and, more importantly, providing them with holistic protection to secure their people and assets worldwide."

Gadens partner returns from EY
James Beckley has returned to Gadens as a partner in its corporate advisory team in Sydney.

He left Gadens in 2012 to join Big Four firm PwC before moving to Ernst & Young where he was a director in its corporate law team.

“Over my years away from Gadens it’s been incredible to observe the Corporate Advisory Team’s remarkable, sustained growth and expanded offering. I am extremely excited to re-join the firm boasting so many familiar, and highly talented, faces. I look forward to making an ongoing contribution to the firm’s strong momentum in this area of law,” Beckley explained.

Swiss firm eyes international arbitration with London launch
Swiss law firm Lalive has opened an office in London to focus on international commercial arbitration, investment treaty arbitration and public international law.

The Solicitors Regulation Authority has approved the new office and the firm will operate as an alternative business structure with no intention to offer English court litigation.

It will be led by two partners who will be joined frequently by partners from the firm’s Swiss offices.

“London will always be a key strategic hub in dispute resolution, not only for our clients but also for many of the leading international law firms with whom we have strong referral relationships,” said Domitille Baizeau, LALIVE Co-Managing Partner. “By having a high-quality presence in the City we will be better positioned to secure more in bound Swiss disputes work from existing clients and contacts with interests in the UK. This is an important step for the entire firm.”
