Dentons has partnered with financial institutions and other organisations to raise funds for Aboriginal children in remote central Australia.
The world’s largest law firm hosted a fundraiser and Aboriginal art sale on behalf of the Watarrka Foundation at the firm’s Sydney office last week. Dentons – along with Westpac, IAG, CareerTrackers, and Poetry in Action – helped raise more than $20,000 to support the cause.
The Watarrka Foundation and the Right 2 the Heart Campaign will be building a new school building at Lilla in remote central Australia, enabling secondary school-aged children to go to high school.
“Access to education is critical to ensure that these school children develop to their full potential, and this means being able to get a secondary education,” said Campbell Hudson, Dentons partner. “The wonderful work of the Watarrka Foundation has ensured that Aboriginal primary school children living in this remote community are able to get an education in their community, but we want to ensure that this education can continue beyond primary school.”
