Leaders of the firm’s new risk-consulting arm to conduct a series of events down under

Dentons has brought the leaders of the newly launched Dentons Risk Consulting unit to Australia to advise on high-risk industries.
Managing directors John Davison and Christian Blackwell are in Australia to conduct a series of events and roundtables. The events focus on what financial services firms and organisations operating in high-risk industries need to keep an eye on in the wake of The Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry.
Davison and Blackwell moved to the firm earlier this month from another global firm to launch the new business. Davison has more than 20 years of experience in senior risk and compliance roles in global banking institutions, the UK regulator, and as a management consultant.
“Dentons has responded to what their clients have been asking for. Firms should be able to have their professional services needs met in one place. Dentons Risk Consulting fills that need by delivering a full suite of consulting services in a manner that is complimentary to and aligned with the existing Dentons legal offering,” Davison said.
Blackwell, who also has more than 20 years of experience as a management consultant, including 14 years with PwC, said that risk management applies to all sectors.
“There has been a lot of noise following the Hayne recommendations in the financial services sector, but many of the themes in the report should resonate with nearly all organisations operating in high risk industries,” he said.
Blackwell said that he and Davison are looking forward discussing with senior leaders from a variety of sectors what they can do to reduce risk in their businesses and get ahead of future challenges.
