Dechert has boosted its global litigation team with the addition of a senior lawyer in Hong Kong.
Maria Sit has joined the firm’s partnership, making the move from Davis Polk & Wardwell, where she was counsel. She was also previously legal counsel at the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong and a senior associate at Herbert Smith Freehills.
Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, Sit has extensive experience in regulatory investigations and enforcement, as well as complex civil litigation and arbitrations.
“Maria will be a key addition to our global disputes practice allowing us to meet growing client demand for disputes services across Asia,” said Hong Kong office head David Cho. “Her experience across complex litigation, arbitration as well as government enforcement and investigations enhances the firm’s offering in the region.”
David N. Kelley, co-leader of the white collar and securities litigation practice, said that the firm is “committed to growing a stellar litigation practice in Asia.”
The new partner said that she is excited for the opportunity to help grow the firm’s capabilities in Asia, with Dechert having one of the world’s best dispute practices and having an “impressive reputation” in white-collar matters.
Since January 2018, 17 partners have joined Dechert’s global litigation practice. The practice has 350 lawyers across 21 offices.
