Ali Chahine has been found after he escaped court last week when he was refused bail on drug charges.

Chahine, who appeared in Downing Centre Local Court last week and jumped on a bus after he fled, was finally arrested by police yesterday.  According to ABC reports, he allegedly assaulted two corrective services officers on his way out.

Redfern police found him in a home in Alexandria yesterday after receiving a tip off that he was inside.  After he refused to surrender, police forced entry into the unit and arrested Chahine.  He was taken to St Vincents Hospital to be treated for a pre-existing condition at around 7am.

Police said he was charged with inmate escape lawful custody and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He remains in police custody.
