Commercial firm continues hiring spree

by |
Colin Biggers & Paisley is on a hiring spree, announcing the appointment of two new special counsel and a new senior associate.

Sian Jones and Chris Dirckze join the firm as special counsel, while Michael Finney has been appointed senior associate. The appointments come after the firm snagged Greg Begaud, a former partner at Jones Day, earlier this month.

Jones, who joins the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution team in Sydney, specialises in commercial litigation. She has particular focus on contracts, trade practices, insolvency, corporate and commercial, professional negligence, and building and construction law. Jones was most recently legal practitioner director at CharterLaw Legal.

Dirckze, who joins the firm’s banking and finance team in Brisbane, has 16 years’ experience in the legal and financial industries. He was most recently associate director for institutional lending and loan markets origination at Commonwealth Bank. He has worked at Clayton Utz, Herbert Smith Freehills, SJ Berwin, and Gadens.

The firm’s corporate and commercial team in Brisbane has also welcomed Finney, who specialises in commercial law, particularly capital raising.

In addition to Begaud and the three new senior appointees, the firm hired construction and engineering special counsel Rachel Pie in April and property and development partner Lisa Lane in February.
