A new ‘one stop shop’ cloud-based practice management system combines launched this week by Thomson Reuters is set to revolutionise the legal business for sole practitioners and barristers.
The new system, Firm Central, will allow users to combine practice management functions with legal research tools and document management.
“Sole practitioners and barristers are faced with the daily challenge of both practising the law, while at the same time running a business,” said James Boocock, general manager for legal solutions in Australia and New Zealand.
“The small law market is by some margin the largest segment in Australia and New Zealand and the number of small law firms is growing significantly as new and highly experienced lawyers are seeing the opportunity in starting up their own businesses.”
Firm Central has been created specifically with the needs of small practice owners in mind, where it’s efficient technology to drive business is crucial. Combining legal content, documents and precedents, time and billing and Outlook calendar integration.
“We understand that smaller legal practices are often challenged by lack of time and resources, in many cases “making do” with ad-hoc or out-dated practice management tools or paper-based methods,” said Boocock.
“Firm Central removes these inefficiencies, seamlessly integrating into a lawyer’s working day, helping them to operate more smartly, and improving profitability along the way.”
