Bird & Bird relocates Sydney office

International law firm Bird & Bird has announced that it is moving its Sydney office to a new location.

The firm will move to levels 21 and 22 of the MLC Centre in Sydney’s city centre on 9 September. In a statement, the firm said that move represents a new chapter in the development of its Australia practice. The contiguous floors of the new office share a central staircase, linking a combined café and library with the reception area and a selection of adaptable client conference rooms.

"With new open plan design, generous spacing, upgraded technological inclusions, leafy indoor plants, splashes of colour and lots of light, the premises bring new energy for our growing team,” said Shane Barber, managing partner of Bird & Bird Australia. “We are embracing the exciting new possibilities for even greater collaboration across our practice areas and sectors, and business functions, in a contemporary office environment."

Barber said that the firm’s new office was designed to encourage creativity among employees.

"Creativity has been identified as a core theme in the development – and meeting rooms have been named to reflect innovation and inspiration in science, technology and the creative arts,” he said. “Technology and innovation is at the very heart of what we do – so it's fantastic to have a new office, in an architecturally iconic building, which reflects this.”
