The veteran pro golfer has started wearing Cozen swag, as Bloomberg Law puts it, and will coach Cozen lawyers at two corporate events per year.
The man from North Carolina proudly wore the Cozen logo at the SBS Tournament of Champions in Hawaii last weekend, and will continue to do so at all PGA tour events except for the Ryder Cup and The Presidents Cup.
Michael Heller, CEO of Cozen O’Connor which is based in Philadelphia, tells the publication that McGirt is “a real blue collar, hardworking guy.”
Financial terms of the two-year deal, with an option for a one-year extension, were not disclosed. However, sponsorship deals can range from more than $4 million for top PGA golfers to $10,000 for rookies.
According to the report, Heller met McGirt through a friend in October in Philadelphia.
“I learned about his family and his history on tour,” Heller said. “He is a journeyman, a tour player who has toured on the PGA tour for years with varying degrees of success… All of a sudden something clicked last year and he ended up winning the Memorial Tournament.”
