The newly promoted lawyers include 12 special counsel and seven senior associates
Barry.Nilsson.’s senior ranks are about to get substantially bigger.
The national firm has announced its largest senior promotions round yet, which includes 12 special counsel and seven senior associates.
Don Leembruggen, the firm’s managing director, said the large promotions round reflects the hard work and commitment of each solicitor in the firm’s insurance and health, as well as family law, groups.
“These individuals have continually demonstrated excellence in client service, technical and personal skills, teamwork and initiative, and together strengthen my view that Barry.Nilsson. has a very bright future ahead,” he said. “We appreciate their significant contributions to the firm and are delighted to be able to recognise and reward their efforts in this way.”
The firm’s 12 new special counsels are:
- Allison Caputo (family – Brisbane)
- Dan McCormack (insurance and health – Brisbane)
- Helen Li (insurance and health – Sydney)
- Jen Kusiak (insurance and health – Melbourne)
- Jordan Farr (insurance and health – Brisbane)
- Kirstie Colls (family – Brisbane)
- Marie Dore (family – Brisbane)
- Megan Daniel (insurance and health – Brisbane)
- Sam Pillay (insurance and health – Brisbane)
- Steph Cook (insurance and health – Brisbane)
- Stewart Boland (insurance and health – Brisbane)
- Will Stidston (family – Melbourne)
The promotions come as the firm experiences a period of expansion. Barry.Nilsson. has recently grown its team to more than 280 staff, including 28 principals in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, and Hobart.
The firm opened its Perth office in September. In April, the firm launched a family law practice in Sydney. Both have since doubled in size, Barry.Nilsson. said.
“We’re not done yet – there is definitely room for future growth, and I am very confident we have the right people in place to ensure our continued success,” Leembruggen said. “As a firm we invest very heavily in our people, and in the 34 years I’ve been here, we’ve had relatively little staff turnover. We’re very careful with the people we hire and the people we promote.”
He said the firm’s focus has always been on finding the right people who share their values and bolster their client-centric culture, and then supporting those lawyers’ to grow with the firm and become its future leaders.
The firm’s new senior associates are:

The new associates are:

- Erica Lawson (insurance and health – Melbourne)
- Hannah Hughes (insurance and health, Hobart)
