Baker McKenzie scores ex-Linklaters COO
Simon Thompson has been appointed as chief operating officer of Baker McKenzie’s London office.

Thompson joins the global law firm from management consultancy firm Change Harbour, which he co-founded in 2011 after leaving Linklaters, where he was the global chief operating officer.

He will oversee Baker McKenzie’s London operations, support the implementation of the firm’s strategy in London, and serve on the London management committee when he commences his role in August.

“Simon is extremely highly regarded and has an impressive background in operational management and business strategy. His experience and expertise are an excellent fit as we continue to implement our growth strategy,” said Alex Chadwick, London managing partner.

Thompson spent nine years working in IT management at BP before joining Linklaters in 1994. In 2003, he became the firm’s director of information systems and strategy, a post he held until 2007 when he became global COO.
