A&O welcomes back Sydney partner

A&O welcomes back Sydney partner

Simon Huxley has returned to Allen & Overy (A&O) to bolster the firm’s Australian and Asia-Pacific projects group.

Huxley, who is based in Sydney, moved to DLA Piper in 2016 as the international firm made a two-partner appointment that included Alex Regan from Corrs Chambers Westgarth.

A&O said that the returning partner’s regional experience is particularly significant as Asia is expected to dominate global infrastructure needs and Australia continues to be in the ten largest infrastructure markets of the world.

Huxley is a specialist in construction and commercial matters. He has extensive experience working with developers, investors, financial advisors, and lenders across a range of sectors. These includes renewables, infrastructure, power, energy, and resources.

His appointment is made more significant because renewable energy continues to be extremely active in Australia and in Asia, the Magic Circle firm said.

Adam Stapledon, who heads the firm’s banking and projects practice in Australia, said that the global projects group remains a strategic priority for the firm.

“The market in Australia and across Asia from a renewables, infrastructure, power and energy perspective is moving in an upward trajectory,” Stapledon said.

The firm’s projects group has more than 80 partners around the world, including nine in Australia.
