K&L Gates acted for the Port of Brisbane on its market-led proposal to develop the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal.

Located at Luggage Point, the project, valued at about $157m, will likely be a boost to the city, the firm said. The project transforms the city into a major cruise destination, as the new facility will be able to accommodate the next generation of mega ships, which can be over 300m long.

“We are pleased to have assisted the Port of Brisbane achieve a result that will significantly increase the number of visitors to the city of Brisbane and help drive the local economy.  We enjoyed helping the Port on this matter, which represents only the second successful MLP in Queensland,” said Jeremy Prentice, K&L Gates partner.

Prentice led the firm’s team on the matter. The team included Brisbane real estate partner Warren Denny, consultant Michael Meadows, and lawyer Lauren Wrafter.

K&L Gates said it assisted Port of Brisbane on project documentation and negotiations with the Queensland and other stakeholders.
