Matthew Watt was admitted to the practice in 2014 and started his career working in the M&A team of EY Law, where he quickly rose through the ranks. He was promoted to associate in 2017, at the time being the first lawyer in the firm to advance to that position with less than three years' experience. In 2018, Watt moved to Gadens Sydney, and was appointed as a senior associate in July 2019. He is currently the youngest member of the firm in this position. As part of Gadens’ corporate advisory group, Watt acts for a range of corporates and high net-worth individuals. He specialises in mergers and acquisitions and corporate fundraising, with a focus on businesses in the technology sector. His practice also includes designing and implementing tax efficient project and corporate structures, drafting venture documentation, and advising on a broad range of complex commercial documents and arrangements.
