Lucy Adams works one on one with leading employment partner, Ruveni Kelleher in the Johnson Winter & Slattery (JWS) employment team. She has quickly become Kelleher’s ‘go-to’ lawyer, and has gained invaluable experience working across a diverse range of matters, ‘delivering work of a standard far beyond her position title’. In the last year, she has advised on some of Australia’s most high profile and challenging employment matters as the sole associate. She is the first point of contact for clients – both for receiving initial instructions and whilst working on the case. As a result, she has developed close personal working relationships with many of the firm’s clients. Additionally, Adams actively mentors three junior lawyers, is a ‘buddy’ to six interns and graduates, and provides training sessions on ‘Employment Law 101’ and employment considerations in M&A transaction. She also coordinates a number of pro bono programs within the firm, including recently a project for the Centre of Disability Law on assistance animals under discrimination legislation. Outside of JWS, she volunteers for the Women’s Legal Service NSW’s weekly evening telephone advice service providing a call-back system for women experiencing economic, social and cultural disadvantage and lack of access to legal services.
