Adelaide Hayes began her legal career at Cooper Grace Ward as a law clerk in 2015 while completing a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Business from the Queensland University of Technology. After graduating, she joined the firm’s M&A and corporate advisory group and upon admission to the profession in 2017, she was promoted to associate at the tail end of 2018. Hayes is regularly trusted to work on complex, commercially or culturally sensitive and multimillion-dollar transactions. She can further be distinguished from M&A lawyers of similar experience for her significant contributions to the not-for-profit, charity and pro bono fields. She dedicates a significant portion of time assisting in establishing not-for-profit and charitable organisations, and advising on applications for, and disputes relating to, registration of charities and endorsements for tax concessions and DGR status with the ACNC and the ATO. Through Cooper Grace Ward, she also provides pro bono legal services with LawRight self-representation services. Additionally, Hayes has demonstrated an aptitude for public speaking and delivered numerous internal and external training sessions and presentations on various topics such as intellectual property protection, cyber security, Australia’s notifiable data breach regime and the whistle-blower compliance regime.
