Nathan Lanthois, head of Transdev Australasia’s in-house legal function with more than 17 years of industry experience, has earned a spot in the 2020 ALW In-house Leaders list, for his outstanding contribution to Transdev and legal understanding of the transportation industry.

Lanthois’s key moments in the past 12 months, include:   

  • achieving several milestones for the Sydney Light Rail PPP project, including First Passenger Service for Line 3 and the successful resolution of several design and construction dispute which has resulted in a positive commercial settlement for Transdev
  • maintained business revenues (other than advertising and charter revenue reductions) through force majeure claims and proactive contract management, amidst COVID-19
  • legal management for numerous business development opportunities including tenders for Brisbane Ferries, Auckland Rail, Adelaide Rail, STA Bus Region 8; and negotiated a 12-month extension of the Melbourne Metropolitan Bus Franchise 
  • implemented a whistle-blower policy and introduction of a supplier charter
  • managed the legal process for the acquisition of two bus businesses – Howick and Eastern in Auckland and Mana Coaches in Wellington, New Zealand  
  • implemented a new quantitative risk modelling approach within Transdev Australasia, to assist risk contingency forecasting, as well as innovative structured financing arrangements for procurement of a new ferry fleet for Sydney Harbour in New South Wales
  • achieved procurement savings for Transdev which have exceeded $1.8 million in the previous 12 months including national fuel supply arrangements
