Clayton Utz
Australia’s Employer of Choice 2019

Clayton Utz sees D&I as an integral part of being an employer of choice and the hallmark of a contemporary workplace. In the last 12 months, it received Gold Employer status for the third year in a row at the 2019 LGBTI Inclusion awards (the only law firm to be recognised); and, it was also awarded an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency for 2018/19.

Flexible work arrangements are available to all employees, from graduate to partner level, and for a range of reasons including study, eldercare, community participation, childcare, health, wellbeing or lifestyle reasons. They can be formal or informal, regular or ad hoc, and include working variable start and finish times, job sharing, working part-time, working from home or another remote.

Supported by a dedicated national flexibility manager, Lauren Levin, the firm continues to focus on embedding a flexible work culture at Clayton Utz. It embraces and looks for people who come from a wide range of backgrounds with different skills, interests, personalities and capabilities. The firm has recently partnered with a company called Pymetrics to help remove bias from the clerkship recruitment process. It is an AI focused, gamified tool, grounded in neuroscience research to diversify the talent pool and help Clayton Utz choose the best candidates. It assesses a candidate's cognitive and emotional traits to determine which attributes make an individual successful.
