Colin Biggers & Paisley bolsters insurance team with new senior hire

Colin Biggers & Paisley (CBP) has bolstered its insurance team with the appointment of Selcuk Gokmen.

Gokmen joins the firm as a senior associate in Melbourne. According to insurance team co-head Cathryn Prowse, the team is currently on a growth trajectory, and Gokmen’s appointment is “in direct alignment with our values and culture.”

Gokmen specialises in handling product liability and professional indemnity claims. He also has broad experience representing clients in statutory and informal settlement conferences, directions hearings, and mediation proceedings.

He has acted for a wide range of clients, including insurers, builders, contractors, host employers, contractors, universities, and occupiers. CBP confirmed that Gokmen’s appointment will strengthen its liability team in Melbourne, where he will be working closely with partner Ana Kolovos and special counsel Tim Coghlan.

“With more than a decade's experience in insurance law, combined with experience working for a multinational insurance company, Sel’s skills and vibrant energy will be invaluable in his work with Ana and Tim who lead our large liability portfolio,” Prowse said.

Gokmen’s hiring follows the recent appointments of Deanne Methven and Marina Basile to the property team, as well as six senior promotions within the insurance team earlier this year.
