US company finds new Australian HQ with G+T's help

Gilbert + Tobin (G+T) has helped a US-based engineering, architecture, technology, and construction consulting firm find its new home in Australia.

The firm advised Jacobs Engineering Group in securing its lease at 452 Flinders Street in Melbourne, the company’s new Australian headquarters. The lease, signed with landlord Dexus Property Group, is for more than 9,300sqm of A-grade office space.

G+T used its extensive expertise in major tenant leasing, as well as its detailed understanding of its client’s commercial objectives and business needs, to secure new lease, said real estate and projects partner Steven Mackay, who headed the G+T team. He was supported by lawyer Isabelle Wong.

G+T said that it has acted in the past on Australian headquarters leases for major international and Australia-based companies. The firm has also advised Jacobs Engineering Group specifically on the Australian legal aspects of its sale of its energy, chemicals, and resources division to WorleyParsons in a $4.6bn deal.

In that deal, the G+T team was headed by partners Neil Pathak and Adam D’Andreti. The team, which also included Wong, who worked on real estate aspects of the deal, worked closely with Fried Frank, the New York-based US counsel of Jacobs in the divestment.
