Partner moves back to private practice

Colin Biggers & Paisley (CBP) has added a new partner in Brisbane, strengthening its employment and safety team.

Sara McRostie joined the firm from Crown Law, which she joined last year as a senior principal lawyer. She was previously a workplace partner at Sparke Helmore and a special counsel at MinterEllison.

McRostie regularly appears before the Fair Work Commission and has extensive experience in supporting employers throughout enterprise bargaining process. Her practice focuses on advising on workplace issues, including workplace restructuring, executive terminations, employee entitlements, workplace investigations and managing long term ill, and injured employees.

She said she is looking forward to working with the growing employment and safety team at CBP, as the team is “so passionate about employment and industrial relations law.”

The appointment helps the practice meet growing client demand, said Jon Meadmore, partner and head of CBP’s commercial team.

“Over the past two years the practice has grown considerably, across all our offices and particularly in Brisbane,” he added.

McRostie’s appointment comes after CBP attracted insurance partner Michelle Taylor in June and insurance senior associate Angela Smith in July. Also last month, the firm made its largest ever senior promotions round, elevating 10 lawyers, including six women.
