Norton Rose Fulbright (NRF) has appointed Paul Devlin, a senior litigation partner with decades of US law experience, as a partner in Perth.

The firm also promoted Daniel Allman, a dispute resolution lawyer based in Sydney, with a focus on cross-border disputes and international arbitration.

“Paul’s rich experience as a respected New York litigator, spanning complex class action and regulatory and investigation cases, will be a significant benefit to our domestic and international clients”, said Alison Deitz, chief executive partner in Australia. “Daniel also brings a fantastic combination of US and Australian dispute resolution experience, with a focus on international commercial and investment arbitration”.

Devlin is a dual-qualified lawyer in Australia and New York, specializing in white collar and investigations matters, civil litigation, and complex multi-state class actions. His client base comes from financial services, technology, food, and agriculture industries, with experience in disputes and investigations related to the commodities sector. He also worked on complex structured trade finance matters.

He will join NRF's Australian and global white-collar crime and civil litigation teams. His career started at the WA State Solicitor's Office, and he later worked at King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) in Sydney. He has experience from various US and global law firms, practicing as a corporate M&A, structured finance, and litigation lawyer. Before joining NRF, he worked at Perkins Coie.

“In considering my return to Australia, it was important for me to choose a firm where I could continue to apply my decades of international experience advising a cross-border and cross-industry client base,” Devlin said. “Norton Rose Fulbright stood out as the ideal place for me to continue my practice as part of Australian and global teams of litigators with a sharp focus on white collar crime, investigations and class actions”.

Allman, an experienced cross-border disputes lawyer, has represented clients in international commercial and investment arbitration. His domestic litigation practice involves disputes with transnational implications as well as general commercial litigation, covering industries such as construction, energy, finance, infrastructure, mining, oil and gas, technology, and transport.

Allman is dual-qualified in Australia and New York and has worked on matters spanning Australia, Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America. His knowledge of international arbitration and complex litigation comes from academic credentials obtained from the University of Melbourne and Columbia University. He gained practical experience at KWM in Melbourne from 2011 to 2014, including on secondment in Shanghai, and at Covington & Burling in New York from 2016 to 2019 before joining NRF.
