Mills Oakley lures group from MinterEllison to national public law practice

Mills Oakley has lured MinterEllison’s national public law practice group leader Julian Pinder and MinterEllison’s Brisbane public law team leader David MacLaren to its national public law practice.

Pinder joins Mills Oakley’s Sydney partnership with over 15 years of experience in public law litigation and administrative law. He has advised several government departments and agencies.

He has regularly appeared before the Federal Circuit and Family Court, the Federal Court, and the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. He has also supervised significant matters before the High Court.

Pinder has been the lead partner on several large governance, regulatory, and administrative law reviews for government agencies.

Meanwhile, McLaren brings over a decade of experience in public and administrative law to the partnership at Mills Oakley Brisbane. He has litigated before the federal courts and the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

He has expanded his practice to encompass high-profile inquiries and related advisory work. His previous work within an investigations and enforcement team for a Commonwealth regulator provided him with considerable regulatory experience.

Joining Pinder and MacLaren at Mills Oakley are MinterEllison special counsel Anthony Gardner, who joins the Melbourne office, and associate Max Hopkins, who will commence at the Brisbane office this month. Senior associate Taylor Young will join the Canberra office in November.

MinterEllison senior associate Claire Laizans started at Mills Oakley’s Brisbane office earlier this month, while Liam Dennis joined the partnership in the Sydney office in August.
