Maddocks confirms role in $776m acquisition

Maddocks has confirmed its role in the $776m acquisition of Kidman Resources by Wesfarmers.

The independent firm advised Kidman, which agreed to the scheme of arrangement earlier this year. The deal received “overwhelming” support from voting shareholders on 5 September and was given court approval last Thursday.

Partners Ron Smooker, Gina Wilson, and Cath Debreceny headed the Maddocks team advising Kidman. The team includes special counsel Katherine Styles, senior associate Jacqueline Picone, and lawyers Alexandra Hodsman and Sasha Di Sipio.

Maddocks said that it has been a longstanding adviser to Kidman, having helped the company through its growth story, starting from tenement acquisitions, joint-venture agreements, offtake agreements, to the final successful exit.

Listed on the ASX, Kidman is developing the world-class Mt Holland Lithium Project in a joint venture with Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile SA.

Greenhill was Kidman’s corporate adviser. Allens and UBS advised Wesfarmers.
