KWM acts again as KKR buys another Australian company for $675m
King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) is continuing work for an American private equity giant, this time with the acquisition of an Australian non-bank lender.

KWM is advising KKR on its $675m acquisition of Pepper Group. The purchase will be effected via a scheme implementation deed, allowing Pepper shareholders to choose between receiving cash or shares in a new holding company for their stake in Pepper.

Partners Mark McNamara and Lee Horan are leading the KWM team. They are supported by special counsel Alex Elser, senior associate Cathy Chan, and solicitor Harsha Garikapati.

“The transaction will give KKR exposure to significant lending and servicing markets in Australia, Asia and Europe,” said McNamara.

Just last month, KWM confirmed that it advised KKR on its acquisition of the Dixon Hospitality Group, which runs more than 40 pubs, bars, and restaurants, for about $190m. Allens acted for Dixon in that deal.
