K&L Gates backs Sydney Opera House’s philanthropic program

K&L Gates has become the first corporate partner of the Sydney Opera House’s philanthropic program.

Called The Brave, the program showcases innovative and emerging work in a range of contemporary programing streams, including music, performance, talks and ideas, and visual art. One of the events that form The Brave is happening this weekend. Called Antidote, the event is the “renowned festival of ideas, action, and change,” K&L Gates said.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Sydney Opera House on The Brave,” said Nick Nichola, K&L Gates’ managing partner in Australia.

He said that the mindset that underpins The Brave is one that the global firm shares.

“Just as the Opera House is focused on being innovative and ground-breaking in selecting the work that is showcased through The Brave, we too are driven to be dynamic and forward-thinking in the way we deliver our legal services. Our clients have always relied on us for technical excellence in the work we do, but we also know they are placing an increasing value on our ability to be practical, insightful and adaptable – even brave – in the way we work and what we can offer to provide them with unparalleled service,” Nichola said.

Louise Herron AM, the Sydney Opera House’s chief executive, said that The Brave is an initiative that supports challenging and ambitious new works.

“This exciting new support will help us continue to present world-leading artists and programing and, through that, to deepen our connection with the community more broadly. Partners like K&L Gates play a vital role in enabling the Opera House to do more and reach further,” she said.

Nichola explained why supporting the work that The Brave does is important.

“The experience of visiting the Opera House and witnessing a live performance under its signature sails is truly unique. When performances are particularly thought-provoking, which is what the works enabled by The Brave aim to be, that experience is all the more special. Sydney Opera House is an organisation we are immensely proud to sponsor and work with as a valued client of our firm, and we hope to continue our relationship for years to come,” he said.
