In-house team expands Allens’ IP group

Allens has expanded its IP and integrated patent and trademarks attorney (PTA) practice, welcoming an in-house team from a Toronto-based global company.

The new team is headed by Ian Lindsay, who commenced with the firm on Monday as principal patent attorney. Lindsay bring to the firm extensive experience as an IP practitioner across the electrical and mechanical engineering fields. He and the team made the move from CCL Secure, a global banknote technology company that’s part of Toronto-listed CCL Industries.

Associate Cici Cui deepens the team’s electronics, electrical engineering, and physics expertise, Allens said. Lindsay and Cui are joined by assistant Sharon Forder, who the firm said will also enhance the team with her knowledge of innovation and practice management. Cui and Forder will start with the firm in the new year.

“Coming from an in-house corporate environment, Ian and Cici bring a wealth of commercial insights and experience unique in the Australian market. This secures our position as the premier patent team in Australia, offering the full suite of IP services. Ian and Cici add to our expertise and experience in emerging technologies and are a fantastic addition to our PTA team,” said Linda Govenlock, head of the PTA team.
