Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has promoted Sydney IP partner Kristin Stammer to the role of executive partner for Australia and Asia.

Stammer will take over leadership of the firm’s offices in the APAC region for an initial term of three years as Andrew Pike transitions to a new managing partner position. Pike had held the role since 2017.

“From May, I will be building on Andrew's impressive legacy, and I sincerely thank him for the leadership he has shown,” Stammer said. “I am honoured to be chosen to lead the firm in Australia and Asia at such important time for our region.”

Stammer has been part of HSF for 25 years, and co-heads the global consumer sector. Pike lauded her appointment as his successor, explaining that the APAC region would “thrive in her highly capable hands.”

CEO Justin D’Agostino added that Stammer was “highly regarded by our clients and our people, with news of her appointment strongly received across the firm.”

“She has the global and client-focused mindset and the collaborative and inclusive leadership skills required for one of the world’s leading international law firms,” D’Agostino said.

Stammer is set to take the reins on 1 May 2023. She will be working closely with Asia managing partner May Tai.
