Highlight: Women edge out men in 2022 Most Influential Lawyers list

Women had a strong showing in Australasian Lawyer’s Most Influential Lawyers list for 2022, with the number of female winners edging out the number of male winners. Of the 29 members of the legal profession who made the cut, 15 were women, while 14 were men.

The Government/Non-Profits/Associations category was dominated by female winners, with Queensland University of Technology director of legal services (research) Anna Feros, The Benevolent Society group GC and group company secretary Elaine Leong, and NSW Land Registry Services GC, head of corporate affairs and company secretary Nicole Graham being crowned.

Five of the 9 Young Influencer winners were women, represented by Danny King of Danny King Legal, Amy Zhang of Harmers Workplace Lawyers, Mannie Kaur Verma of Regal Lawyers, Ole Mitrevski of Massons and Shirley Lee of 3M.

Massons partner Jodie Masson stepped up for the women in the Business category as the sole female representative, joining Redenbach Legal’s Keith Redenbach, Maddocks’ Shaun Temby, Infosys Limited’s Dr Mitchell Landrigan, Herbert Smith Freehills’ Tony Damian and Hall & Wilcox’s Tony Macvean.

Among the Changemakers, representing the women were Hall & Wilcox partner Fay Calderone, Nest Legal principal and founding director Laura Vickers, Department of the Attorney General and Justice NT Aboriginal Justice Unit director Leanne Liddle, Pearce IP CEO Naomi Pearce, and Herbert Smith Freehills chair Rebecca Maslen-Stannage.

The 2022 Most Influential Lawyers list was released on Wednesday.
