Experienced commercial disputes lawyer says several factors make the area very interesting at the moment
The newest Holding Redlich partner says that commercial litigation is currently a “very dynamic” space.
Susan Goodman has been named a partner in the top firm’s dispute resolution and litigation practice in Sydney. Goodman, who added 19 years’ experience in complex commercial disputes to the firm, was most recently of counsel at Squire Patton Boggs.
“ASIC’s ‘why-not-litigate’ approach, as well as the increasing number of class actions being commenced in Australia with the expansion of litigation funding in the jurisdiction, means that the commercial litigation space is currently very dynamic,” Goodman said.
She said that it is an interesting time in the technical and topical sector of dispute resolution and litigation because of the recent Financial Services Royal Commission and the numerous challenges boards are facing as the regulatory environment, which has a focus on enforcement and litigation, keeps evolving.
