Bird & Bird has brought International Tennis Federation (ITF) executive director Hannah McLean in as a new consultant for its Australian sports law team in Sydney.

McLean led an in-house legal team that provided guidance on commercial, regulatory, governance, and data protection issues across ITF functions like international team competitions, tournaments that serve as a pathway to professional tennis, and development programmes.

She has worked on matters related to the operations, regulation and commercialisation of sporting competitions. She is dual-qualified to practise in both Australia and England and Wales), and has collaborated with international and national sporting organisations on all aspects of sports governance and regulation.

Before her stint with the ITF, McLean was head of legal at the British Horseracing Authority and a lawyer with UK Anti-Doping, where she developed her expertise in sports integrity, ethics, and disciplinary issues.
