Defining success in the TMT legal field – with Anchali Anandanayagam of Hudson Gavin Martin
Join Anchali Anandanayagam, partner at Hudson Gavin Martin, and uncover the pivotal role of technology in TMT law, the need for human intervention in tech, and how it will affect the 2024 legal landscape

In this edition of New Zealand Lawyer TV, we sat down with Anchali Anandanayagam, a partner at Hudson Gavin Martin, who was named one of New Zealand Lawyer’s Elite Women for 2023.

Anandanayagam’s journey began in technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT). Despite falling into the role by chance, Anandanayagam thrived in the role due to her constant commitment to learning and development.

Anandanayagam dispelled the misconceptions that TMT lawyers are solely patent attorneys, emphasizing their role in shaping commercial frameworks for technology, media, and telecommunications products and services.

When asked about the integration of new technology in the field, Anandanayagam noted, “While the practice of law can absolutely be augmented by technology, and we think that's really important, careful thought needs to be given to how that is done, to make sure that we are actually developing and growing capable lawyers."
