Corrs Chambers Westgarth is welcoming a top infrastructures and projects partner and his team from Norton Rose Fulbright (NRF).
After four years as partner at NRF, Joshua Paffey has transferred to Corrs’ Brisbane office. He is joined by Justin O’Callaghan, Scott Francis, and Jennifer Barret, who have all been appointed special counsel at their new firm.
Paffey, who has particular experience advising Korean companies in matters in Australia and the Asia Pacific, has extensive experience in the energy and resources sectors. He advises on major infrastructure disputes including in relation to litigation, arbitration, adjudication, appraisal, and expert determination. He also advises on major infrastructure delivery matters, including via EPC, EPCM, PPP, and alliance delivery models.
O’Callaghan, who also has experience in asset delivery through the previously mentioned models, specialises on complex and transformative infrastructure projects. He spent more than four years as senior associate at NRF.
Francis is focused on large scale complex litigation in various practices, construction and infrastructure, mining and resources, corporate, M&A, trade practices, and commercial property. He acts for clients in the Supreme Courts of Queensland and New South Wales, the Federal Court of Australia, and the High Court of Australia. He also acts in domestic and international arbitrations and mediations. He was special counsel at NRF for more than 14 years.
Barrett, who specialises in advising on domestic and international construction and engineering projects, has particular experience in international arbitration. She advises a range of clients including national and local government, owners and contractors, funders and joint venture partners. She spent more than a year as special counsel at NRF.
