Russell Kennedy has added John Hoey and his team from Hoeys Lawyers in Melbourne to the firm.

Hoeys Lawyers specialised in local government law, building and construction law, planning and environment law, and law enforcement and prosecutions.

Hoey and his team of Daniel Silfo, Liz Flanagan and Genevieve Philogene, respected across the Victorian Local Government sector, have already started at Russell Kennedy.

Hoey specialises in local government law, building law, construction law, building disputes and appeals, local laws, domestic animals law, road management law, planning law, local government prosecutions, and professional conduct.

Paul Gleeson, Russell Kennedy managing director, said that enhances the firm’s capability in the areas of local government enforcement and prosecutions, and statutory building control law.

The firm’s local government, environment and planning law divisions in Victoria are acting for more than 40 Victorian councils as well as private clients.

The integration of the Melbourne boutique comes after Russell Kennedy recorded a 6% increase in fee revenue year-on-year in 2016. The firm is focussed on growing capability in core areas, it said.

Based in Melbourne, Russell Kennedy opened its Canberra office in 2013. It currently has 31 principals and more than 200 employees.
