A national firm is continuing its rapid expansion with a new Canberra office
Hall & Wilcox has announced it will kick start 2016 with the opening of a new Canberra office.
The announcement follows the firm’s recent office openings in Newcastle and Perth, and an increase in the number of partners from 42 to 64 over 2015.
The new office is an important step towards the firm’s bigger national presence, and will focus on providing further support to existing insurance sector clients.
“We think that there is an opportunity for a high quality business law firm to service national clients in the insurance and financial services sector,” managing partner Tony Macvean told Australasian Lawyer.
“We also see the Canberra office as an opportunity to further grow our public sector practice, increasing the work we do for the Commonwealth Government as a logical extension of the work we do with state and local governments.”
Matthew Needham, who has strong statutory and general insurance experience in the ACT, will open the new office, along with three legal and two support staff.
Macvean said he expects the 400-person firm to continue to grow in 2016. Hall & Wilcox is already acting for over 20 per cent of Australia’s top 100 companies.
“We will be looking to continue to grow nationally, both in insurance and financial services and in other sectors and practices,” he said.
“This growth will continue to be selective and managed in a way that nurtures our firm’s culture and ‘one firm’ value.”
Last year, the firm's Sydney office reached capacity and was relocated following a significant expansion.
