International law firm crowdfunds Brexit help service
Pinsent Masons has launched an online portal to help clients with the legal and commercial challenges created arising from the UK’s decision to leave the EU.
The BASe (Brexit Advisory Services) portal has been crowdfunded with clients already signed up including Australia’s Lendlease and UK mutual insurance company Royal London.
"The next few months - and years - will be challenging for in house teams,” commented Alastair Morrison, Head of Client Strategy at Pinsent Masons.
“Brexit is an unprecedented challenge that requires a new type of response. Simply providing legal services in the same traditional way will be selling clients short," he added.

Disputes partner Ante Golem has been awarded the Keith Steele Pro Bono Leadership Medal for 2016 by Herbert Smith Freehills.
The award was named in memory of Keith Steele, founding member of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee and a legacy Freehills partner. It is awarded to individuals from the firm who have demonstrated outstanding contribution to pro bono.
German team leaves KWM
More lawyers have exited King & Wood Mallesons in Europe with a team leaving the Frankfurt office’s finance team. Banking and finance head is joining Taylor Wessing with a team of four. All five have been with KWM since 2013 when they joined from White & Case.
The departures follow last week’s news of exits from the global firm’s London office which included former managing partner Rob Day, a move which halted the firm’s planned recapitalization.

Linklaters Tokyo has been included in the first ever Pride Index from Japan’s non-profit Work for Pride.
The law firm has received a Gold Award by the index, which aims to evaluate the policies and initiatives of companies in Japan using elements such as policy, representation, inspiration, development, and engagement/empowerment.
