Energy and resources expert joins international firm

The international firm is strengthening its energy and resources offering by hiring the Australian solicitor and US attorney.

Clifford Chance has added Jessica Davies, an Australian solicitor and a US attorney, to its Asia Pacific practice as counsel.

The hiring strengthens the international law firm’s international corporate energy and resources offerings, Clifford Chance, which has 16 partners in its Australian operations, said.

“We are delighted to have Jessica join the team. She will further enhance our reputation for providing best in class domestic and international expertise in this market. Jessica is a commercially-minded and results-driven advisor, who will complement our regional practice,” said Jon Carson, senior partner in the Energy & Resources practice.

“Jessica’s experience across the globe speaks for itself, and will be a valuable asset for our clients and our firm. She has been widely recognised within the industry and we are excited to have her on board,” added Energy & Resources partner Paul Lingard.

Davies has worked with clients in Australia, America, the UK, Asia and Africa and is an expert in the mining, oil and gas sectors. She specialises in acquisitions, disposals, new projects, joint ventures, supply, transport, infrastructure and operational arrangements.

She was the inaugural winner of the AMPLA Excellence Award for an Australian lawyer demonstrating high achievement, commitment and international expertise in Energy & Resources law.

Over the past decade, Davies has been based in New York, London and Sydney and is now returning to Perth.

“The landscape across the energy and resources industry continues to change. This brings significant challenges for corporates, investment funds, and governments to adapt and capture opportunities,” Davies said.

“I'm pleased to join Clifford Chance, forming part of a market-leading team that is at the forefront of helping clients to navigate the complexities of the industry.”

Davies’ appointment comes as Clifford Chance partners Angela Pearsall (L&DR, Sydney), Jenni Hill (L&DR Perth) and Richard Gordon (Finance, Sydney) recently arrived in Australia.
