ABL helps Retailors Ltd pick up Nike, Samsung businesses

Arnold Bloch Leibler (ABL) has helped Israeli company Retailors Ltd to pick up Retail Prodigy Group, the partner and operator of the retail businesses of Nike and Samsung in Australia and New Zealand.

Co-lead partner Gavin Hammerschlag said that the deal “serves as further validation of the pre-eminence of the Australian retail sector, its global standing and its future outlook”. The transaction also represents a major milestone in Retailor’s goal to broaden its global partnership with Nike.

Retailors was represented by Fox Group legal advisor Aya Ben David Ashbel, with ABL supporting. Hammerschlag headed up the ABL team alongside fellow corporate and M&A partner Jeremy Leibler.

The partners were assisted by senior associates Cameron Sivwright and Ari Bendet as well as by lawyers Vanessa Filipendin and Noah Abelman.The firm’s property and development team also lent its expertise, led by partner Gia Cari and supported by lawyers Jenn Loh, Thomas Polhill and Dylan Feltham.

Moreover, the workplace advisory team assisted under the leadership of special counsel Rachel Soh, who was supported by lawyers Madeleine Durrant and Edwina Lu, while the banking and finance team provided specialist advice under the leadership of partner Damien Cuddihy and the support of lawyer Andrew Younan.

Retail Prodigy Group operated 40 Nike stores and 11 Samsung stores across Australia and New Zealand, employing over 1000 staff. Tel Aviv-listed Retailors operates 180 stores across Israel, Canada, and Europe, focusing on the sports, leisure, and urban segments under the Nike, Foot Locker and Converse brands.
