Dentons beefs up banking and finance practice with new Melbourne partner

Dentons has beefed up its banking and finance practice with the hire of Nicola Schofield as a new partner in Melbourne.

Schofield brings over 14 years of experience in property and development finance, residential and commercial development, public-private partnerships (PPP), project finance, and corporate finance. She has represented both lenders and borrowers.

She has advised domestic and international financiers, developers, and funds on residential, hotel, industrial and commercial developments, and acquisitions. She provided guidance on the Cross River Rail PPP in Queensland and the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone project in NSW.

Schofield has also tackled the turnaround and restructuring aspects of matters in relation to distressed debt and restructuring lending and security. She has served clients across the banking, real estate, construction, transportation and infrastructure, and energy sectors.

She previously practised in New Zealand and London, where she logged a five-year stint in an in-house role at an investment bank. Australia Chair & Australasia Region CEO Doug Stipanicev cited Schofield’s cross-border experience as an asset to the team.

Schofield is the third partner to join Dentons this year.
