Colin Biggers & Paisley partner Andrew Logie-Smith has been named the new board chair of the National Trust of Australia (Victoria).

Effective 1 March, Logie-Smith replaced Kristin Stegley, who stepped down from the chair position after six years at the helm. Previously, Logie-Smith served as the National Trust’s corporate secretary from February 2016 until January, when he was appointed a board director.

A commercial lawyer for over 40 years, Logie-Smith has extensive experience in complex commercial matters, including corporate advisory, M&A and government procurement. He has represented clients across multiple industries, such as real estate, logistics, media, defence and manufacturing.

He also holds directorships and advisory board positions at WTFN Entertainment Group, Intrax Consulting Engineers Pty Ltd., Real Estate Agent Select Ltd., Allard Shelton Pty Ltd., and Cargotec Advanced Australia Pty. Ltd.

As the new National Trust chair, Logie-Smith promised to focus on simplicity and teamwork to deliver outcomes. He announced his commitment to setting up a new three-year strategic plan for the organisation and to repositioning its brand and image.

“I am looking forward, with a great deal of enthusiasm, to our next chapter, with our attention being on setting a course that preserves the National Trust and enhances its standing in the eyes of the community,” he said.

Founded in 1956, the National Trust is community-based, non-government organisation dedicated to promoting and conserving Victoria’s Indigenous, natural and historic heritage places of cultural significance.
